The stench of death, rot and humus fills my nostrils as I shudder awake from my slumber. A sharp pain from my right side shoots through my body sends my body into a wrenching fit of convulsions; As I regain control of my body and force myself into a sitting position, a droplet of water pats against my arm. Thunder growls in the distance, crows shriek overhead, and I am able to stand finally. As I pull away my hand from my side, I feel a warmth on it that smells of copper, and stare in belief of what I had awoken to. Bodies strewn about like children's toys. Men, women, and children; slain, dismembered and disemboweled. I look at my hand to see blood from my side on it. But the blood isn't just on my hands; I'm lathered in it, almost as if I had bathed in the life essence. The rain is now starting to form into a drizzle; cleansing me as I stumble forward through the ravaged wasteland. Moans and cries from the dying pierce the air as the crows feast. I finally remember to look at my side, and there is a dagger embedded into my armor. I breath in heavily as I grasp the leather wrapped tang, soaked with blood. The shriek of steel on steel and a yell of anger and pain, is deadened by the thunderclap behind me. Huffing and choking for air, I fall to my knees, and shove my knuckles into the grass. The rain is coming down in sheets now, but even still, miraculously, I find my sword in front of me. Through the chest of another man. Beside that man, a golden crown. I shimmy over to the body that encases her, and release her of her captivity. I grin and cough. "My Job here, is done."
